ADDINGHAM CEILIDH CLUB AGM

Held in the interval of the meeting at Addingham Memorial Hall    Sunday 21st September 2025.

Chair - Tony Lever
Minutes - Jennie Ellison

Meeting started 7.55pm

The minutes of the last Club AGM held on 21st July 2024 were accepted as a true record.

Report on Club Activities

Addingham Ceilidh Club had a successful year, with numbers attending the meetings consistently high.

The New Year Ceilidh was again planned to replace the normal January club night, but the weather conditions meant the event had to be cancelled. It eventually took place in March and was used to mark the 20th anniversary of the club being established. Our July meeting was a longer event to mark Bradford’s Year of Culture. It was a great success, with dance teams performing in the intervals along with our usual scone, strawberries & cream tea.

To summarise, we have now found a winning formula in terms of start /finish times and duration, and the nights are hugely successful and great fun.

Treasurer’s Report

This covered the Club’s income and expenditure account for the year ending 30 April 2025 & a summary of the Club’s income and expenditure account was circulated to the members.

The Club’s bank balance stands at £2097 which is an increase on last year and still sufficient to cover risks and contingencies.

The surplus on club nights again more than covered the small loss on the delayed Striding Edge ceilidh.

Charity collections continue and members can donate using the collection box on the door. The amount raised by members this year will be matched from the Club’s funds. Médecins Sans Frontiers will continue to be our chosen charity.

Election of Committee

Most previous Committee members were happy to be re-elected, but Liz Bowen has decided to resign from the committee. Grateful thanks were offered for her commitment and hard work; noting that she was one of the people who established the Club in 2005.    An open invitation to join the committee was issued to all Club members.

A.O.B.

Thanks were given to:
  • The callers and the ‘Beneath the Clock’ house band who once again have worked tirelessly (and voluntarily) in providing a mix of tunes and dances both new and old for everyone’s enjoyment.
  • Guest callers and the musician spots too.
  • The Ceilidh Club Committee (Liz, Jennie, Jenny, Cath, Jane, Tony, Dave, Helen and Barbara) for overseeing the running of the Club & planning events.
  • Jenny for her timely reminders about club events
  • Anahata for maintaining the Club’s website.
  • Tony for looking after the Club’s finances & preparing the annual accounts
  • All Club members for their participation and enthusiasm and for making the Club so enjoyable, with special thanks to those club members who arrived early to help set out the Hall or stayed to help clear away at the end.

The meeting ended at 8.05pm
